Madeline Mecca (she/her) is a senior in high school from Upstate New York studying photography, cultivating her own world of Americana nostalgia in her photos. With inspiration taken from iconic photographers like Robert Adams and Lee Friedlander, as well as music from the likes of Tom Waits and Lana Del Rey, her photography leaves you with a feeling of longing for days gone by. Part of her authenticity comes from developing her own 35mm film in a makeshift, homemade darkroom.
Madeline's distinct, melancholic black and white photographs tell stories that make one wonder who or what resides within them, taking up rent in each detail. The ability to create a dreamy landscape out of a seemingly nondescript place is one of the things that stand out most about Madeline and her work.
